I am in process of buying a new tank 180 - 220 gallon due to me moving out and my parents wanting to keep the Rainbow Snakehead tank (Seperations can be lucky but got to keep the TV). After I am done cycling the tank what are suggestions for stock? I would like to hear some suggestions from people on this thread.... Definatly a type of snakehead. The tank size is from 6x2x2 to 6x2.5x2 feet. Also if any breeders in Edmonton have some good fry I would also be interested in that.

I'd personally go for a species tank and a tank that size could house small groups of medium sized snakeheads Ok. Pleuro's and Auranti's would be Ok as chronick said, but I would consider the following as well:
Parachanna obscura/insignis/africana.
C lucius
C asiatica

Most max out at around 40cm, so groups of 5 or 6 should be Ok.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just had a friend contact me about a african arowana I told him not to get because it will out grow his 60 gallon. Well suprise it did! He begged me to take it so I did. I dont want anyone to be flamed on this thread so civily can anyone suggest anything for this new prediciment. I have read the other threads already and was thinking about something simliar to channa aurantimaculata Which Quoted from the Channa Species guide:

"temprement: towards there own kind they are amoung one of the nastiest channa around ,they simply can not stand each other unless they have formed a pair , even then fights can break out at the drop of a hat and they are capable of infliction great damage on each other , strangly when mixed with other fish they seam to ignore all but the smallest fish ,if they dont see it as food they are useally ok . "

I should also note I will be geting a larger tank now because of this problem and the generous price i recieved for babysitting this aro.

then i highly recommend pleuros as they are a tropical snakehead and can tolerate the same water temps as the arowana. I've found then to not be too aggressive, although i have been raising them since 3.5" and they are now 4.5"

cool fish though, they're fast and school in a group. Also, there have been many arowana channa pleurophthalma community tanks so you shouldn't have any problems
