This tank is mainly for Diamondback Terrapins (Turtles) but right now the tank is just setup and cycling.

I have them currently in a 55 gallon aquarium, but am moving them to a 150 gallon aquarium.

I just filled up the 150 gallon aquarium 48 hours ago and was wondering how long it takes for the cloudyness to go away?

I have a FX5 and two powerheads in the tank. The substrate is crushed coral for the added PH. I am guessing the white cloudyness is from the crushed coral.

I rinsed the crushed coral for a long time to get all of the powder out of it.

To cycle the tank faster I have been taking water out of the 150 and and 55 gallon and putting water from the 55 gallon (matured tank) into the 150 gallon nightly.

Is there anything else I should be doing and how long does it take for that white cloudyness to go away?

cloudyness can take a few days, if you put some fine filter floss in the filter it will get rid of it faster. Just remove it before it gets too plugged up.

For cycling adding water from the other tank will help very little. BB is not free floating much. A little media, sponge, or sunstrate, from and esablished tank will help though.

I use a gravel vacuum to get the wastes out of the crushed coral, should I gravel vacuum the substrate before moving it over?

I use pre-washed crushed coral and it still take multiple rinses before putting it in the tank or it is a dusty disaster. I would give the cloudiness a couple of days to clear up.

Ya, we rinsed it FOREVER and still could not get it totally clean.

Should I add anything to the tank to get it to cycle faster?

I am obviously willing to wait because they are perfectly fine in their 55 gallon but I like to spoil my animals

Sorry for all the questions, this is my first larger aquarium:

Would shutting the powerheads off help with settling the dust?

Patience is key

Unfortunately u need to spend about a good 20mins washing the corral before putting it in the tank in order to reduce the clouding.

It usually takes about 48-72 hours for the cloudiness to go away.

Just be patient and more than likely itll be perfectly fine in a day or so.

Oh we spent like 2-3 hours on 40 lbs of crushed coral
