I have a 20 gallon extra tall that I am thinking about using for my first salt tank, I have discus in a 75 gallon right now and am wanting something just as colorful in this tank, any suggestions, also what kind of filtration would be the best, I am looking to do this tank on a budget of around 75 for all equipment and another 100 or so for live stock

Because of your low budget, look at a Skltter Filter. But beware, you need to modify it for it to really work as a skimmer. Buy it with a wooden airstone and look up the modifications online.

A better choice would probably be a visijet protein skimmer for 30 bucks or so combined with the Emp 200 or Penguin 150. A better option yet would be to increase your budget but since you can't, i stand with my recommendations.

Pick up a Bicolor Pseudochromis for color if you don't like shrimp.

Percula and Ocellaris clownfish are both really hardy and can live together in number if you buy them at the same time.

Carpenter's Wrasse are beautiful and you can keep a couple of them in a 20 gal . Two females and a male maybe.

Oh and if you like Discus, you'll love a Coral Beauty Angelfish.

No 20 gal monsters that I can thik of.
