A LFS by me just got a couple new thin bars in. I missed the original batch a few weeks back and all that was left when I found out they had them was 1 horrible looking one. Anyway they have 3 right now for $25 each, all about 2 inch.

one is a bright gold but dull bars, not stable at all
the next one is VERY bright and VERY solid bars, and fat (deff gonna get that one)
the last and biggest of the 3 is that "horrible looking" one from the last batch. It is almost completely black and though it looks alittle fatter then the last time I saw it, it also looks like it is getting a couple tiny bumps on its head (so small it may even just be that its recovering from something) I dont think its DD but you never know.

Now i just took down all my tanks but 1 since I will be moving in the comming months, but I think I can get away with putting up one 30Gallon for them

My question is should I go for all 3 since its a pretty good deal, and risk the horrible looking one gets the rest sick OR just get the 2 healthy ones OR just get the one really good looking one and wait for them to get more really nice looking ones?

I'd get the two good looking ones, and then get some better looking ones when the LFS gets more.

Well I really do not want to set up a 2nd tank when I am moving so soon. So I think I have decided just to buy a divider for the 55Gallon I have set up now and put them in that tank. I know the water is good, and everything is all set up already, it just seems easiest.

I have a 8inch Thin Bar in there already and I know that for the most part Dats wont either Dats but I dont know if I am pushing it because the new guys are only about 2 inch. Do you think the dats would get along?

Also I have a 7-8inch needle fish in there that gets me alittle nervous. Bring the needle fish to the store is an option.

Should I just keep everything and get the divider or get rid of the needle and hope the big dat dont eat the small ones and let them have the whole tank?

Also what do you guys feed your dats at that size? I assume blood worms, but is there anything else I can get also.

Thanks for the help

just get any thin bar most of them are hard to get stable and just because 2 of them are nice in the shop doesnt mean it will be nice in your tank

same goes for the dark larger one it may be dark in the tank but may turn real nice and gold as soon as you put it in the bag to bring it home

Went there, bought the 2 better looking ones. And the 3rd one looked MUCH better today, but those white markings on its head scared me, could be nothing but some scar tissue healing, or a maybe its a fungus. If he still has it in another week and it looks good, ill grab it.

Ended up putting a divider in my tank, and even though they turned black when the owner of the store netted them, they are looking better already in my tank

Needle fish already started eyeing them up, so i think ill keep the divider in till they get a bit larger.

the larger dat has showed very little interest.

anyway im excited
