Well, it seems I've found a good forum here, so let me introduce myself-
I go by Carter, in case anyone's interested, and I've discovered I love "monster" catfish.
...Yeah, it was an accident... about 6 months ago, I bought a cute 1 inch Tiger Shovelnose cat at a pet shop. "How big does it get?" I asked the guy working that day. (Before this incident, I'd liked Corys, lol.)
"Not that big... maybe 5, 6 inches." Was he new, I wonder now?
And that was my crash course into TSN care and raising. Ouch. I started him in a 1 gallon office tank, and he grew. And grew. And grew. And I researched and read, and we went from the 1 gallon to a 10... the 10 to a 55... and the 55 to a 75, and the 75 to a 90. And that's where I'm at now, and I wouldn't give up my foot long TSN for anything.
So, I'm still a newb, but I have a serious love for this fish I've had since he was a tiny thing, and I don't see me wanting to give him up any time soon. I've since bought and am in the process of growing out a Redtail/TSN hybrid I got just about 2 days ago, and I'd like to learn more about my new "hobby".
Can it even be called a hobby anymore?
I think it's more of an obsession now...
