Hi all,
I got a 5 -6 inch tigrinus a week ago that has only eaten once so far. I have tried most things so far and he has only touched some small feeders.
As a short term thing only because of size can I put a pictus cat in with to incorouage him to eat other foods.
The pictus will be around the same size. I know he will have to come out due to size eventully.

i'll normally put a fish or two in with them if they are new, that way when i feed the other fish will creat a "feeding frenzy" kinda atmosphere and pray the "mokney see, monkey do" works... well in your case "fishy see, fishy do":D

Hope he's get's on feeding quick, since your in aus, you must have payed a lot.

what sort of fish have you used before?
i'll use the same species so in yourcase i'd use a catfish thats not aggressive... i've use alot but the best i have catfish wise and non aggressive is a four line pim.

at 5-6inch you maybe best putting the tig in a 2ft tank by himself until it grows abit

they are very bad hunters when small and only normaly take food that is very very close it him

you can try feeding prawn/mussel broken up into little bits and heated up with boiling water before you feed

also just feed at night

try using a transparent plastic predator feeding stick so you can target feed him. mine sulked a little first but now takes mussel, prawns and white fish fillet very aggressively. be careful if the food lands on top of them as it can spook them.
good luck

I have had small Tigrinus in the past 3-4" that wouldn't even eat feeders. They would however gorge themselves on Live black worms. I can almost guarantee these will work.

I agree it has to be right in front of them when small but frozen bloodworms worked for me..
