new tiny teugs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I love the picture of one resting in the plant at the top of the tank! For being so tiny, their body condition looks pretty healthy. However, I definitely understand the concern for the smallest one. Hope they are all eating and getting along. I want them to be threegelsi instead of twogelsi.

Update on the baby teugs .After 3 weeks 2 are doing well and have grown a bit the smallest one has not grown at all and appears to be wasteing away saw it on its back just now but I dont think it will last the day. Was wondering if it has some sort of internal parasite but if that was the case wouldnt the other 2 gat it aswell or maybe it is jut a weak specimen.

If they were wc I would say possible internal parasite infected. CB probably was weak when you got it from not eating. I would call vendor where you got them from and ask if wc or cb.

I think the vendor said they were shipped fron indonesia when I was asking for an eta for delivery.

I a so angry and upset with myself after all the problems getting the teugs looked in the tank just now realised one was missing about 3 feet from the I found one dead . Out of the 3 it was the fastest growing one .I made the mistake of leavingthe water level a little too high and paid the price of loosing the best one out of the 3 it is now 5 weks since I got them I put the smallest one in another tank as it wasnt growing .I am gutted.

Was the Teug completely dried when you found it?

I would say yes 90% I put it in a bucket with tank water and an air stone cheched it at about 2am this morning was dead I found it at 7pm saturday I came home from work about 1330pm but didnt check the tank if I did I may have been able to save it. When in the bucket I noticed some of the slime coat coming off so yes I was too late this time . It is a shame as it was the fastest growing and best looking out of the 3. In the photo it looks wet but that was after I placed it in the bucket of tank water to see if it would revive .

There are breeders in indonesia that breed this fish, so I would guess CB. I went through the same thing last year. Got two that were the size of toothpicks last summer/fall. Now they are about 12"+. I treat my fish with Levemisole for worms, as an FYI. Captive bred you probably don't have to worry though. When mine were small they would pound the brine shrimp. GL, those are cool fish!

yes I feed them brine schrimp and very finely chopped up talipa I seperated the runt so that it stands a better chance at feeding to see if it catches up in size .
