new to africans...rocks

hey guys was a monster fish guy but have decided to give africans ago, i have a 5/2/2.5 tank and looking at stocking it with a few colonys including, frontosa, crimsons,hongi, yellows and loachs, was looking for some rocks to build some caves etc, i want to go to the landscape place and buy them as they seem to be alot more cheaper, i just dont realy know what are aquarium safe rocks there, if anyone can help that would be great, thanks

You could also go the cheaper way and find some large flat rocks and build the caves yourself...just be sure to give them a good cleaning

I use large lava rocks for my african tank. I sorted through the entire pile to get all the oddshaped rocks to make them easier to stack and create caves. I think they ended up costing me about $0.40/lb

Have you heard of the vinegar test?

I thought the vinegar test was used to see if rocks would raise your pH, which for an African tank doesn't matter, or even be a good thing depending on your water.
