IM PLANNING A 55 GAL AFRICAN TANK. I JUST GOT THE TANK SET UP AND BOUGHT A BRAND NEW FLUVAL 305 FILTER. IM GOING TO LET THE TANK CYCLE FOR A WEEK OR SO THEN ADD SOME COMETS. THINKING ABOUT LEAVING THE COMETS FOR ATLEAST 2-3 WEEKS THEN SLOWLY ADD SOME AFRICANS.

IM CURIOUS HOW MANY FISH I CAN KEEP IN MY TANK. I HAVE HEARD THAT AFRICANS DO BETTER WITH MORE FISH. AND ARE THERE AND PARTICULARS ABOUT KINDS THAT CANT STAY TOGETHER?

want to add all at once not over time... or in a short time... otherwise you may lose them...keep mbuna together and keep tangs together... try not getpeacocks with mbuna... you would want mbuna in that size tank... on the small side..

You really need to do some research as to what you want and combinations that work well.An all male tank? Two colonies or 3 breeding groups are all options.

see what's available and decide on what ya want.

not a good idea to mix lakes and most species shouldnt be kept together.

also depends on your decor as you have some that will luv the rock pile, some the need big shells and some than can be left open or with little rock design.

you could do at least 10 and def more...
