I just obtained a 5 in silver from my lfs, and was curious, is it common for aros to not eat for a day or two when moved into a new enviroment???

It is normal for them to be stressed out, but being that it is still young. It should eat pretty quickly, try flakes, floating hikari sticks, krill, brine shrimp, blood worms, and maybe crickets. I don't suggest live feeders, very hard to get them off of them and not really heathlty.

Yes it is common, did you enquire as to what the arowana was eating at the LFS?

Yeah, they said that he was eating everything they threw at him, bloodworms, krill, and occasionally a feeder. I'm just hoping that he's not going to accept only feeders, that's why I havent tried feeding them to him yet. And that is pretty good advice, I'm actually in the process of reading through them now. I done quite a bit of research on them, but it doesn't really give any info on behavior. Like is it normal for an aro to attack the glass like a cichlid would?? Cuz mine seems to be doing that whole little wiggle thing at the front of the tank.

Your new arowana will only accept the feeders you put in the tank. It is up to you if this fish will only eat feeders.

Many arowanas do the swimming through the glass routine. You could try a couple things to deter this as it will lead to deformed barbels. Paint the sides and back glass of the tank, put plastic plants bordering the edges of your tank. Also some well placed powerheads or airstones can make enough current to deter this behavior.

How big is ur tank ?

right now he's in a 20g until I get my 300g 96x36x20 out of lay-a-way lol, if he starts to out grow the 20g I can stick him in the 55, but it shouldn't be much longer til I get the 300g
