Just traded one of my piranhas for a little 3.5" Jardini today. I added him to my 125 growout tank with a 4.5" GATF, some tinfoil barbs, a long nose gar that's about 6", and a big 10" Apollo shark.

Anyway, I just want to make sure I am setting up this little guy for success. I have a ton of current in the tank because the GATF needs it; there is 2 Koralia 1400s, 1 Koralia 750, an AC110, and spray bar from eheim 2217. Is this too much current for a small arowana?

Also, he has been eating mainly blood worms and live microworms (I think that's what the previous owner said anyway), earlier he was eating some blood worms but spitting them out.
I put egg crate all over the top so it can't jump out, no openings.

Any advise for a new arowana owner would be great!

I would get him in a small tank by himself for awhile without a ton of current. Get him eating good and train him to eat dry foods at his leisure. A 20 long would work just fine. He will be basically lost in that big tank. I am speaking from personal experience. I just got a 3 1/2" and put him in my 240. Too large a surface area for him to hunt down food with the other tank mates. I put him in my 29, which is only 30" long and he has a much easier time eating. I am going to keep him there till he grows at least another inch. I had him eating from My fingers in less then a week. Good luck.

Wait 6 months and chances are you won't be able to put them together anymore.

Jars are really aggressive, mine even beat up a common pleco and those things are hard to hurt.

That is most peoples experience, but not mine. I had one for several years, 20" never bothered anything.

Yeah I am a firm believer that if a fish grows up with other fish, he won't kill them later on.

Well I do have a spare 40b setup, I could put it in there.

Generally best to raise small arowana with out tankmates until 5-6" and not mixing with larger potentially harmful fish until 10-11". You'll have a ton of people chime in a tell ya it'll work just fine, if it don't you can always just buy another. Personally I believe one should research each and every species they are trying to put together, helps to understand the potential failures that could possibly happen.

Personally I would put the little guy in a smaller tank, I like the 20 long, or even a 15 should be okay. When it gets bigger you can put it in the 40 breeder, but for now it should be in a smaller tank so that it can get to the food easier and so that if you have to medicate its a lot easier.

And maybe I'm being irrational, but is anybody else afraid of having an arowana in with a GATF thats larger?

Don't know about the GATF but there a few threads of gar demolishing smaller arowana, even with the gar only being slightly bigger.

People keep arowanas and ATFs together all the time. The gatf doesn't really mess with other fish unless it can swallow them.
I have a 29 gallon I have on the floor empty, was planning on giving it tony mother in law.
I would really like to just keep the jardini in the 125 because it would be kind of a pain to keep moving it and having other tank setup just to grow it out. I hope it eats in the big tank soon, it might have already I'm not sure.

Why not just set up the 40 breeder as its growout instead of a smaller tank? If you're concerned about it finding food in the 40 breeder vs a 20 long, just make sure to drop the food in front of it or in its path so it can see it and eat it. Doesn't seem like it's capable of competing for food in your main tank yet so I would move it into the 40 breeder if you want it to eat well and grow to a size where it can compete successfully with the other fish before putting it back in the 125.
