I was wondering if I could keep a bichir with my male and female dovii? I heard that they are compatible with cichlids. Is this possible? Just curious because I have been wanting one since my friend had one but gave it away. They are very interesting fish!:grinno:

Oh also the fish tank is 90 gallons.

sorry. i wouldn't put a bichir with even just a single dovii, let alone a male and female.

In fact, generally speaking, bichirs should not be housed with breeding pair of any cichlids. Based on the sizes in your signature, i take it yours aren't breeding pair yet, but i'm guessing you're hoping they will be in the future?

I agree with Inf, when it comes to breeding cichlids, you shouldn't keep anything with them, especially big boss glass bangers like dovii.

Bichirs are very nonchalant and sport an easy going nature for the most part, and that care-free and at times graceful style of swimming around the tank, can attract the 'hater' reaction in big aggressive cichlids ;)

To put it simply, bichirs are lovers not fighters  :grinno:

Haha true story. Is there anything that can be put with a dovii pair like a pleco that they won't bother. I was thinking maybe some type of catfish. I know wrong forum but just interested in some input because I'm looking to vary my fish in the tank.

i got my 2 sen and one ornate in with my 6 ciclids but than agin my polys are 7" 8" and 14" and my ciclids are only 1-2" and the ciclids are not breeding yet

You may need some Dither fish to put in with the pair just so the male won't kill the female, but both will probably kill the Dithers.
