Hello, i just recently got a new 55 gallon and it came with a used fluval 304 canister filter. I have everything inside set up but just dont knwo exactly how to get it to start. There are things on the top that i dont know exactly how to use. Help please!!
well its better to have water in them when you start them. i have a pump that i put in my tank and then usse it to push water in the filter and then it starts up. if you dont have a pump. then just fill the canaster with water and put some water in the tubes. then start her up it might take a little bit for the air still in the canister to be let out. hope this helps.
heres a link if you cant find yours (thats a google.com "view as html" link.. it jumbles it a bit but the bulk of it is readable.. first 17 pages are english.. then the same thing in what i think is french? theres a link to the original pdf at the top of the page you can download and print if you want)
thank you snail and chester. I didnt get the instructions because mine were used but they make a lot more sense now. Had some pretty big problems though. I got it working so i was happy then something told me to keep checking it and after a couple min i noticed water on the bottom of the stand and i knew i didnt spill it..the canister that came with it was leaking. Dont knwo if there is a leak or i did something wrong but im not gonna even bother with it again lol made me too mad. ill buy a brand new one first. Luckily i had a five gallon bucket around otherwise things could have gotten ALOT worse. Thanks again for your help though guys, i appreciate it
the problem may be something as simple as a crooked connection.. so before you toss it might be woth giving it a onceover... yer money though so do whatever you want
