I just picked up a 122 gallon tank yesterday. It's shaped like an L. One side is over 4 ft long and the other 3 ft. I want to use the 4ft side for some dwarf cichlids. How many do you think would be ok in that tank? The guy I bought the tank from is a member here and he has some of these which I fell in love with

Pseudotropheus demasoni

So what other kinds would be compatible with these guys?
Thanks

In a tank that size, you could keep a lot of different fish, but i'd suggest other aggressive mbuna because desamoni are extremely aggressive... especially for their small size...

Definitly keep a lot of desamoni... you can't just have a couple or they'll attack eachother... I'd suggest in a tank that size you get like 12 desamoni and something like a Peacock (because they get huge) or some sort of aggressive Mbuna.

With Mbuna the more the merrier, they are very aggressive but in higher densities there is much less of a chance for individuals to be picked out.

Heavy filtration is a must if you go this route however.

Yeah please post a pic of the tank.

Yeah I've decided to go the plant route. I'd like a huge variety of fish in my tank and with mbuna your kinda limited

But I'm pretty sure I'll be buying a tank soon to set up for cichlids

here ya go.
