i have two I.T. dats in a 125g, about 4-5" each, with a few other cichlids and community fish. I've only had this setup a little over a week.

anyway, i read that two can be a bad number for datnoids and one may end up dominating and picking on the other. there's some aggression between the two but not real bad right now.

if i was to get 2 more, should they be I.T. dats? or will one of the other species suffice?

they are slow growers.... 18" will take u a really long time to get too. But as far as number 2 can be bad but if ther is enough space it could work i did in my grow out 40 G for a few months then some aggression happened so i moved them. But i would worry about them getting picked on by the cichlids

well, anyway i picked up two more to give me 4. one was another 2" indo dat, and the other is a 4" NTT/thinbar that was accidently mixed in with the IT's at the store. i think it's really cool now that i have another species.

The more the merrier.

Still have your rhom?

no he's been gone for a while. i need to just change my sig. unfortunately shortly after i sold it to someone, it died in his care. must of been shock in a new tank or the guy's parameter's were off.

:cry::(

tell me about it, he was like the first fish i had i felt attached to and i put off selling him for quite a while as i just couldn't pull the trigger on selling him.

it's been a rough year for me. i lost that huge rhom, a juvi hoplias aimara (wolf fish super aggressive) that jumped the tank, and a 9" p. piraya from cannibalism...can you say $$$ and all those are sweet fish to own.

by waaaayyy for biggest losses i have ever had were this past year.

You were basically giving that Ginormous Rhom away. What an amazing price. I thought about picking him up but I did not have room.

Sorry for your losses. None of my tigers have jumped so I think you ok on these asian perches jumping out of your tank. Just power feed them and sit back and watch them grow.

They sort of remind me of Oscars but Tigers are much cooler and look nicer.

you can see what i have with them in my sig, of course except the piranhas. there are also some silver dollars and danios in there. anyway, i have them in with some cichlids, but pretty mellow cichlids in 2 oscars and 2 ebjd. they get along great for now, but i realize i will have to downsize soon as i overdid it. however, the silver dollars are in there as dither fish and to add activity to the tank while everone else is fairly small. i might also part with the ghost knife as i really wanted a clown knife, but those can get to be 2'+.

i still have the 5 cariba and a piraya. i *might* keep the piraya and grow him out solo, or just cut down to 1 tank for now and then buy a 16"+ rhom down the road.
