Im new to datnoids. Im very confused as to use salt or not? some peopel say yes others say no? what is your guys opinion on this? do they like perfer more alkaline or accidic water? thanks.

No, not for IT (Indonesia Tiger), NTT (Northern Thailand Tiger) and ST (Siamese Tiger / Widebar)

only NGT (New Guinea Tiger) and AT (American Tiger / Silver datnoid) are brackish, but they can also kept in fully fresh water

:D

Above people are correct. ST, IT, and NTT. are FULL fresh. NGT and AT are found in and out of brackish conditions in the wild. Both can do fine in fresh (NGT more so then AT).

We really need a sticky for this. I have both AT and NGT in full fresh and they are doing great (although I haven't had the NGT for very long). I also have NTT and IT and the AT is by far the fattest, most active and growing the fastest out of all of them.

the AT I used to have was in brackish and was doing fine and then change it to fresh which he was also doing fine

awesome thanks guys i could never get a stright answer on this. I work in a lfs and we got some ST in and the guy we got them from said fresh but i herd both. we have a bit of salt in there now but its good to kno i can go fully fresh. thanks guys!
