I am trying to decide what to fill my 55g tank with. I was just wondering if they were fun to keep, how big they can get, and how many can live together.

thinbars and indos would work well. Also add one flagtail to clean the tank and make it look even more awesome:)

Thinbars and Silvers would take a very long time to outgrow a 55, and might even be able to live in one for life. All the rest get too large for a 55, especially the aforementioned Indo Dat, which can easily get to 18+ inches.

im also inteasted into dat's how fast do the grow the thinbars, silvers, tiger, and the other one forgot where it came from

x2 :-)

the cambeli (new guinea tigr also grows very slow like ntt and silver)
just be sure u got decent filtration for the 55g tank. U could keep max of 3 or 4 ntt or silver for may be 3 years before needing bigger tank.
Don't add ngt, they are aggressive so wouln't chance it in your size tank.

I have a 150g that I could switch them over to when they grow. Wondering where everyone got their Dats, cause I have never seen them at my lfs.

Honestly, If you're going to get a AT or NGT, A 55 gallon might not be large enough for your other fishes to swim around. AT's and NGT's gets very aggressive at times. Your other dat's might stress out. Datnoids like to scrap here and there. You want to make sure they have enough room to swim away from the bullies. I would recommend to put a lot of hiding places in there such as driftwoods, lava rocks, etc.. If not, you're going to see your NTT/IT in the corner or on top facing down. Good luck :)
