DEAR ALL

am very new to DISCUS ........ have experience only with FLOWERHORNS....

Got a new tank ..... m planning to grow 2 DISCUS & 2 ANGELS in this new one

1. I am just preparing the water for the DISCUS that would come tomorrow. How is it, if i have added salt....would this become a problem for the new ones.???
2. What is the ideal temp of the Water for the DISCUS ???
3. Whats the best feed for the DISCUS ?
4. Do they dirty the Water so much ? How often to change Water ??
5. What are the other suggestions, as i m totally new to this FISH ??

THANX ALOT IN ADVANCE TO ALLLL

well, i just got discus a couple of weeks ago and i do 25% wc every 5 days
i feed them twice a day, the water temp is 76* and they are doing fine
i have them in a 240g tank

7 discus
8 clown loaches
1 autralian blue lobster 8" (big one)
2 bala sharks 8" each
a few marbled crayfish (self cloning)
4 angel fish

i feed the clown loaches and bala sharks small pieces of stake
discus and agels- befheart
the crayfish get the leftovers

im not telling you this is the right way but this is the way i do mine
and they are doing great

-salt is usually not a problem
-ideal temp is 82-84, mine fluctuates around there, i have 4 discus and 2 angels in a 150
-i do a 30% water changes 2x a week

forgot to add, feed them beefheart, bloodworms, PRIME REEF, FM1, FM2, Omega Super color flakes, tetracolor granules, I sometimes feed them chopped up earthworm, and beefheart flake if you can get those...they need a variety, but your discus will love you if you constantly feed them bloodworms, this is how I got them to eat out of my hands in 2 days

one of the beset fishes to keep as well, hard, but very rewarding...i think they are the most beautiful fresh water fish

in which way is this fish hard to keep ????

actuallly wots the full form of LFS ????

two discus is not a good idea unless they are a mated pair. discus are very social fish and at least six is best. it can work but your bucking the odds. I would lose the angels and go with all discus, or just stick with the angels. my discus are all 5 - 6 1/2 inches and I do two 50% water changes per week. feed them different foods. just make sure it's quality food. I don't give my fish beefheart as it's to messy, but it's great food for young fish.
