I am considering starting a discus breeding tank. My question is.... Is there a certain strain that is easier to breed than others? Any help would be appreciated.

The best thing to do, as with most fish, is get a group of 6-12 of them, and allow them to grow up together. They will pair naturally, and do the work for you.

like the guys above said getting a group of 6 or more will help alot. i don't think there is a specific variety that breeds easier than others but i have noticed that the Pigeon Bloods are a bit stronger/tolerant of water conditions than most other breeds.(red turquoise discus are very strong too)

I'm a real amature at this and after two years my discus are breeding and I was directed to this site for help. The eggs are on the leaf of an amazon sword and the parents are keeping close watch over them. They have been there for a couple days now without much attention from the other fish. Can anyone offer any advice about how to deal with this? I never had plans to breed these and do not have a second tank available. is there any gizmo I can use to keep the little guys from become treats for the other fish?

Tank divider is the best thing for your tank. You should post new questions in a new thread.
