Hey,
I now finally got 3 silver dollars. Im thinking about adding 1 more.. I as well am going to purchase somtime this week a red-tailed black shark. the silver dollars are mid-strata and the red tail is a bottomfeeder. I want another fish thats a bottom feeder to help keep my tank neat and tidy but since Im new to having a bigger tank (55 gal now previously numerous 5-10g tanks.) What are your favorites and which do you think would go well?

As well my sister came with me to the fish store the other day and saw the parrots and fell in love and really wants me to get one but since theyre mildly aggressive Im scared it will interfear with my krew of SD's.

If I were to have 3 SD's the red tail and a parrot is that too overstocked?

the parrot wont be able to catch your SDs and the shark so it will most likley be fine but why not get a normal non hybrid cichlid like a severum or a jack dempsey? (i hate parrots) but for a bottom feeder get a smaller species of pleco like a bristlenose

A severum is much more preferred compared to a parrot. Parrots are not easily predictable in terms of how they behave. Some can behave like cute kittens but most can be totally aggressive. Best avoid them.;)

bump! would like more easy bottomfeeder suggestions. any snakelike bottomfeeders I dont know about?

you could get a chinese alagie eater mine is constantly cleaning the tank but watch out it might fight with your shark

try polypterus/bichirs. they will eat food form the substrate, but will also come to the top of the tank to eat. they will also spend most of their time on the bottom part of the tank, except when making their jumps to the top of the tank and darting around.

hardy fish, easy to care for IMO, and a wide variety of looks and sizes. quite awesome fish to have, with the ability to recognize their owners. mine come front and center in the tank when im getting ready to feed, watching me and waiting.
