Hi All - this is going to be a long post, but I hope you will read it. :)

I bought a house with 200 gallon fish tank in the wall. It has a Sump on each side and a wet/dry area and sponge filtration in the sump area. After much research I decided on cichlids and a banded leoparious tank. (not enough research because I thought you could keep african cichlids with africans.

I've made some mistakes stocking, but will be correcting those in the near future. I have some Mbunas with mostly Hap/Peacocks. Has anyone had success with leaving stocking mistakes? Most of the fish are fairly small the only medium size fish are the yellow lab hybrid and 6 Medium Peacocks. I have 6 yellow labs, a yellow lab hybrid, 2 red top Afras, 2 bumblebees and 1 electric blue Johanni. The rest of my tank consists of 2 Banded Leos, 1 Chocolate Pleco, the rest of my tank is 19 assorted Peacocks and Haps and 2 Frontosas. There are around 8 tetras, 2 loaches, and some red fish the previous owner left in the tank. I started adding cichlids 4 weeks ago and no tetra death.... wierd.

Everyone is behaving now, but I know as fish mature that can change. It is basiclly impossible to remove fish from the tank because of the small crawl space behind it. You are forced to bend over, but not enough space to sit down, and are looking at the tank from above and someone has to shout which way the fish are going..... There are also 4 glass peices to remove which is too tall to just set inside the crawl space so someone has to be outside the tank to hand the glass to. ALSO - if something breaks I am going to have to start taking the stand apart to get to the pump - they never made an access point - great previous home owners.....

Another questions s that I don't know how much I can stock because I don't know how much flow is going through the pump. I also do not know how many gallons the wet/dry area is. Where do I start trying to figure this out?

I am also very new this is my first fish tank ever, and sorry if I have missed any types of fish in the tank, been trying to inventory and figure out exactly what everything is and writing their ph, temp, food requirements, and temperment is down. Some fish stores just want to sell fish instead of actually telling me what belonged together and what didn't.... because I did ask the questions. Fish are expensive, why would i buy fish that are just going to kill one another.

From the outside that tank looks pretty awesome. That "crawl space" behind the tank is terrible though haha.
You're stock doesn't sound bad. It sounds like a mixed African tank. I don't see why I wouldn't work out so differing how big the tank is.
If you really want to remove fish you can a) simply drain the tank down to fin level or b) put some food in a net and scoop fish out once they swim into it. That'll take some time though.
As for stocking capacity, it's a big tank. If you're thinking of keeping similar type Africans, I think you can add a lot more.

Thank you all for your input! So I have figured out a bit more - having this set up as my first tank there has been a learning curve.

The pump is a 4-MDQX-SC so it has 1325 ghp and 1/10 hp. That means it is like 6.625x flow my tank per hour. I am not sure if that is enough for a overstocked cichlid tank. More research is in order.

The yellow labs are nice and so is the yellow lab hybrid. My 1 afra is a butt but he doesn't go after anyone in particular. My tetras kind of hang out above the flat rock mid tank and play with the more gentle cichlids. My Black sailfin tetra chases my bigger OB peacock. O.o I figured the tetras were a lost cause when I started adding cichlids. Too hard to catch and not worth a lot on trade in, but 4 weeks and still going strong! I will try AGAIN to remove the tetras if the cichlids get more agressive.

As for the cichlids I am going to try to keep my mixed tank - I see that many people have failed, but with a tank this large. Just maybe I might be able to pull it off. I won't be buying anymore agressive mbunas so when the tank is fully stocked there shouldn't be that many compared to the rest of the fish.

the mixed tank will be fine for now,, when mature might be a problem might not.. the thing to keep an eye on would be the haps/peacocks since they get much larger then most mbunas.
if you would want to add more Mbunas i would suggest rusty's they are my favorite. i would also take out the dragon(even though i like it) and add more rock work. Maybe a few bigger rocks like softball size for them to swim around and break up line of sight.

I plan on getting more rock when I can - I like to personally pick out the pieces that I like. I couldn't believe how expensive limestone is!! I paid 1.50/lbs for that showcase peiceit was $127.50..... but I've also seen shops around me selling rock upwards of $2.90/lbs and charging more for the showcase peices!! The dragon has holes in it and the mouth is open and I have it placed upon 3 flat rocks. I have some really small cichlids in there that use that for cover. Once they get bigger and no longer fit will get more rock. (Previous home owners left all their decor) Only thing I've bought decor wise is the holey rock.

I have a male red empress Hap that is like 1 inch no color yet. I have these 2 really cool little guys that are like 1.5 inches. I forgot what they were but they get purple and yellow. I'll try to get some photos tonight of the little ones. :) They wanted too much money for ones that already had color.

I would add lots of fake plants, tie them to rocks at the back of the tank, I would also maybe get some floating plants and a lot more peaceful/semi peaceful fish this will help reduce agression. Choose fish like silver dollars, giant danios, synodontis catfish,Pictish catfish and etc
