Hello all,
I'm quite new to flowerhorns but, not at all new to big CA/SA cichlids and their glorious/notorious attitudes.

A little while ago, I got a couple of juvies from a friend who's a member here and they're truly good lookin' fish. After a bit of research, I've come to the conclusion that what I have are ZZ Flowerhorns. They are the offspring of loureyes "Zeus" and both are REALLY starting to color up nicely.

Being new to FH's, I've come to the conclusion that ZZ's look basically like a Trimac on 'Roids(and it's a BIG improvement on the real Trimacs looks, even low grade ZZ's look better to me than high grade Trimacs).

Am I alone in this assessment?
Thanks again Lou and best to all,
Jay

You couldnt be more wrong, sorry bro. Zhen Zhu Flowerhorns also include Red Dragons which in most cases look nothing like Trimacs.

O.K. Musha,
I stand corrected. Like I said, I'm still new to FH's
The majority of ZZ's pics I saw looked like glorified Trimacs...I never considered Red Dragons. Thanks for the info. I've still got so much to learn about this new(to me) fish.

Best to all

Bro as I tell everyone, I am not the best speaker. So if I came off as rude I appollogize and I didnt mean to do so. If you have any other questions let me know.

It really comes down to personal prefrance. Some people will agree some will disagree depending on who you ask, or in this case where you post your question. Trimacs are my favorite fish but really I like anything Amphilophus. I also like the looks of some FH's. What I find so interesting about this hobby is the diverse opinions, likes and dislikes among hobbiest. Lets be honest here if a lot of people did not agree with you they probebly wouldn't exist in the first place. I think the hobby is stronger because of the diversity and varied interests of all the dedacated fishkeepers on this site. As long as we are responsable, provide a healthy envoronment for our fish and provide the bast care we can we all win IMO.

In short enjoy the hobby any way you want their your fish keep what you like.

Hey Musha,
I didn't take it as rude...actually, it was very informative and caused me to look deeper into what I have/don't have.

When you get a chance, take a look at loureyes avatar and some of his pics of "Zeus".
What kind of FH is that?

I can't contact loureyes for some reason...

By the way how are those fh I would love to see some pics. I only have one of those left they went pretty fast. I recently bred that female w/ my green Texas I have tons of free swimmers now.

If I were to compare a Fhs behavior to another fish it would be a Midas
