Any general info on them would be nice :D

Would 1 be good alone in a 55g for life?
What determines the value, besides from that bump on their head?

How many kinds of flowerhorns are there? I've heard of ZZ(whatever that stands for...), king kamfa, titanium, and red dragon :screwy:

a single flowerhorn would be perfect in a 55g for life. maybe even a pair? but then a 75 would be better.
as for value it all depend on the viewer eyes..for example the pearl , colors , marking, or they kok.
now a day there are so many mix of diff flowerhorn but some basic one would be those that u mention.

55 gallons or 35 gallons is fine for a single flowerhorn, just limit yourself on putting sone decors and gravels for quick cleaning purpose..

depending on the particular strain of flowerhorn, it may do well in 55 gallon. some can reach sizes up to 2 feet, so obviously those types would be out of the question. in a 55, i wouldnt recommend anything larger than a short body, seeing as a basic zz will get at least a foot long(which is too large for a 55 imo).
price is determined by size, kok size, pearling, coloration, finnage, strain, and whether or not it is fertile(i may have forgotten some factors)

the strains of flowerhorn are ever changing, so it would e difficult to put an exact number on the amount.
good luck :)

x2
one flowerhorn in a 55g is boring, keep one more fish or maybe a divider. And they poop a lot, i do not recommend decors, these don't like to hide.

I have 1 flowerhorn in a 55 gallon and i think he will be fine. I don't find them boring, they have good personality and actually act like a pet. My daughter picked this fish out and I was like ughh a flowerhorn (former tanganyikan purist here, big ups Ad Konings). Well this guy made a good impression on me, just like my red devil of yesteryears. Always chasing your hand or remodeling the sand. Keep a mirror handy to hang on the side and he will go absoulutely ape-$#!!. Good stuff.

so a 60g would be fine for a 1' max fh? some some "thai flowerhorns" $30 a piece

A full grown flowerhorn needs a minimum 36"x18"x18" tank anything smaller and you're just an irresponsible fish keeper. I don't know what the guys above are talking about.

& I like the guy above giving advice saying don't put any decorations in your fishes tank because it takes up too much space but he doesn't mind cramming a big flowerhorn in his little tank. If you actually had your fish in a tank that he fit in he'd play with his decorations all the time.

a 55 would be a good tank to start out with but as your fish grows he/she would need a tank with a width of at least 18inchs. all flower horn are nice but you have to pic the type to fit you or realy your budget
