I recently purchased a nice little 2.5-3" Flowerhorn. He is in a 30 gal now and will be going in my 75 all by himself as soon as my Buddie comes to get my 10" red Devil. He is very colorful and already has an attitude!

What do you think?

My 75 has a black background and natural color gravel, I know I need a different background what would you guys suggest? I am also feeding Hikari bio gold + and he LOVES it.

THANKS

Jeremy

A mixture of bio gold and cichlid gold and a little excel has done great for my red dragon , oh yea blood worms on sat. 15 gal water changes on my 75 tank and a good marineland stealth 300 watt heater , and a fosters and smith blue with white rocks background and your good to go ,I use two marineland 400 overboards but one will work fine

Looks good. Nice zhen zhou red dragon. The last picture makes me think he has a chance of fading to orange because of the colors around his mouth but it's unlikely. For background you'll want something with several colors, same with the gravel. Check out the sticky at the top of the flowerhorn forum for some good advice.

Decent Red ZZ FH. As far as the sticky about being black background killing your FH color. I find some of those information false, because from some flowerhorns I've seen. The black color actually bring out their color much more. Hikari Bio Gold is a good staple food, you'll be fine. Just rotate it's variety. From everyone I knew of that uses NLS(New Life Spectrum), they don't really rotate its food much often. Sometimes not at all because NLS is really pack with all sorts of ingredients.

Good looking RD. Variety of foods is the best thing for your FH. It brings out the colour and makes them strong. If you give them enough variety they will prosper. I find they LOVE raw shrimp. I cut it up in small peaces and give it to my fish. They go nuts for it.

Appears to be a male - BTW I agree with BigOne about black backgrounds, I have black bg & light mixed grey substrate in all of my FH tanks.
