hello,my name is Tang,i really love snakehead, but iv never kept them and i think bichirs look interesting too, also never kept them,i want to know if my new 72x30x24 would be big enough for bichirs and snakehead?tommorow im going to buy a tiger bichir, how big do they get?what to feed it?

lol you name is really similar to mine haha....
your tank sounds excellent for a crapload of bichirs :D

feed the bichir pellets, market shrimp, basa filet, tilapia filet, or silversides. the size of the bichir depends on
the species. I'm assuming you're talking about Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri, so i would say they max out around
20-24 inches or so....if they're CB. I'm not sure how much larger they would get if it was wild caught.

yes, snakeheads are awesome, whats you real name?bichir pellets? is cichlid pellets okay?dont know much about bichir and 20-24 inch sounds good enough

nice meeting you Tang,my name is Hao and welcome to the forums,72x30x24 would be great for your bichirs, and most snakeheads, any sinking pellet is fine for your bichir

you can keep channa and Polypterus together, I have kept my senegal birchir 8inch together for over a year without any issues, with channa pluero and parachanna obscura, sold the obscura recently, now i have my pluero 12+inch in with a 15inch ornate birchir, no issues as of yet, i understand people keeping channa and birchirs together have alot of sucess, think it has alot to do with similar shaping and mid to large channa tend to be mid-top water fish where birchirs seem to be mid-bottom dwellers...

In my experience, senegals at least, will take food where ever they find it, and they have a superb sense of smell. My current experience is with senegals only, but I'll be getting some delhezi or palmas variants in the near future.
