i currently have 3 tanks of my own up and my little brother's that i for the most part maintain.

55gallon- 11" albino tiger oscar, pair of mating convicts, 9" pleco, 4" striped rafeal(sp?)
29gallon- 3" jack dempsy, 2 1/2" pleco, 1" striped rafeal
10gallon (temporary)- another pair of mating convicts.

as a note i will give the mating convicts in the 10 gallon to the first person to shoot me a message about them. they are too aggressive to have 2 pairs in a tank and they wouldn't let the jd eat, so i need to do something with them.

I am wanting to get another tank but can't convice myself to spend the money on it, but I want one of the corner 46gallons to put my oscar in and give him more room to turn around in. that or a 75gallon. just depends on where the tank is gonna have to go. i would rather the 75.

my oscar and jack dempsey both eat live food. the oscar eats fairly large feeder goldfish and the jack dempsey eats a medium size minow. they both are very healthy.

hey buddy try to ween the fish off feeders. do bloodworms and other frozen foods. just a tip to keepin fish i know its cool to watch em feed on other fish just do it as a show but lots of feeders introduce parasites and filthy up ur tank. i have been keepin tanks for 10 years and i had to learn the hard way. just wanna get a fellow novice a lil information. also i would go with the largest longest tank you could so u can keep more cichlids in them on acount of the territorial behavior they need more area to play with and u could set it up beautifully. i have the same tanks you do only with different fish. i have a 55 with 2xjuvie jag's and 1xnormal oscar and 1xbumblebee catfish 1xpike cichlid(sveni) with live plants witch are phenominal and 2xpairs of firemouth cichlids. im cycling a 29 gallon currently to put the firemouths in and have a 10 gallon cycling. i recently had to restart all my tanks, only had the 55 with a giant gar in it, cuz of a horrible flood in my town put the power down. old tanks ive had everything for the past 10 years
List:
1xsnakehead 1xsilver arrowana 1xpike cichlid(venzuala) 2xred belly piranaha 1xjd 1xtiretrack eel 1xblack rhombus piranaha 1x tiger oscar 1xdog fish 1xgold spilo piranaha 1xrocket gar 1x spotted gar many plecos and a few i cant remember but ya lost of mishaps and such and lost of fish vs fish deaths some natural disasters over the years also lots of these fish were given to me from friends and family cuz they had to move so i had overpopulated tanks so lots of aggresive fish = lots of deaths. :( but better i had them then being thrown in the river tho right anyways just thought id pop in and drop some knowledge on u :)

i supliment with bloodworms and pellets. they aren't completely on feeders. just that's what they prefer. lol. i have to change the water so often in the 55 though when he doesn't have feeders to eat that it's unreal. 2-3 times a week is normal for me with that tank.

a 75 will help to reduce the workload a little and give that big O some extra turning space and a decent length. the 46 corner may be a tad tight for the O. easier for turning but he will have little cruising space.
or go for a 120 gallon (4x2x2), i doubt it will cost much more than a 75. on a UK site the price difference is negligable at about an extra £30 so $60 ish. will help to cut the water changes down to once a week as long as you have adequate filtration.

i just upped my filtration tonite and saw an instant change. went with 2 emperor400's and saw a difference quick. i want a 75 or 125 either would be nice, but I can't really afford either right now. the oscar really likes the new filters for some reason though.

I agree with the above posts, usually if you can afford a 75g then you can probably afford a 90 or 120g. I originally wanted a 75 but got a 90 instead (cause the LFS screwed it up and gave it to me for no extra charge) and I am very glad that I did.

i wasnt tryin to chew you out just a lil tip buddy :) heh but ya i always have double the filteration i need on my tanks like my 55 has two 30/60 filters. cycles the tank like 20 times an hour or sumthin the fish love it

Great to hear Ya got the Oscar some better filteration.Told Ya it will make a difference. It will be even better in a few wks, when the bio whels get established
