Greetings to all,

Would like any and all advice on keeping teacup (reticulated) stingrays. They are currently 4 1/2" and just got them home. The tank is 110 tall with 3 large angels and a very large tinfoil barb. Substrate is white sand with driftwood.

Thank you in advance.:grinno:

You should be good for awhile. A tank upgrade will be needed in the future. Look into the different types of filteration used by ray keepers. I use a DIY sump moving filter bed. Keep the lights off till they start eating. Try night crawlers chopped very small. Retics at that size have very small mouths. Good luck.

clean water and yeah a better footprint is needed for sure. retics get pretty long for their smaller disc size. earth worms were a favorite food for mine. Once they are eating u should be fine if u keep the water clean. I found mine liked huge water changes. They always ate the most the first feeding after a wc.

Thanks for the advice. In terms of filter, I have a fluval FX5 as well as an Emperor 400. I didnt realize how small there mouths are. At first tried feeding a full (unchopped) nightcrawler. Needless to say, to no avail. For the moment, I have him on frozen blood worms. Very active. How often should I feed them also I'm thinking 25% water change weekly is that enough?

Thanks:grinno:

depending on what else is in the tank and how much you feed, the 25% might have to be more frequent.

Use the Nitrates to gauge how much and how ofter to change water.

live black worms.. live blackworms... live blackworms...

if they are eating at all u are already looking good. \try blackworms if u can get em. good luck

I have 2 and as far as feeding I like to mix in sinking carnivore pellets with bloodworms and they love them, ill also throw in some live ghost shrimp from time to time as well as beef heart. Wc is 50% every 5th day and a ph of 6.7. Hope I helped a little

It appears they are both eating. However, I just noticed on of my stingrays is injured.. It appears my large tinfoil barb is the one that did it. Needless to say, Im taking him to the petshop tomorrow. But what advice for the injured pup? I just did a 25% water change and added stress coat with aloe vera. Im a long time fish keeper and not fan of medicine. Is repeated water changed enough???
PLEASE HELP!!
