Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. :cheesy: I like to dabble in aquatic photography; however, it is yet to be my strong point. :frown: Right now I have a Kodak digital camera (forget the model), but I hope to get a Nikon D70 for Christmas this year. :) I will be practicing a lot, and will be needing your expertise to guide me if you will. Hope to talk with everyone soon.

hey Dani (at least I know your name now, and dont have to call you Scarlet anymore :) )
Welcome to APF, and I hope you get one of those cams, you can't lose w/either one. We'll see some of your pics soon, post some of your current ones up !!!

Hi Dani,

Welcome to APF!

I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay here. We have a few regulars here that's pretty good with their Nikon D70 digital SLR too. So don't you worry about getting some experience advice here.

Cheers,

Thanks for the welcomes everyone! :) Yes, as you guessed my name isn't Scarlet, but my dog's name is. :cheesy: I have a few pics I can post for you. What is the appropriate forum? Concerning the D70, is it necessary to have the remote flash and macro lens? I definitely want to get the macro lens in the future, but those are quite pricey too.

Dani, there are several galleries, they are pretty clearly marked, and there is a photography 101 (help) folder , where you should post as much info w/your pics as you can to give us an idea of what you are doing when you shoot. I dont have the flash and I do fine, you just need to have a LOT of good lighting. Macro lens is only important for extreme close ups. The Nikon stock lens is actually really good from what I have heard. The Canon one, not so good :)

Ok, thanks. Will get some up for some feedback. 8)

welcome scarlet. though it may not be necessary to have a shoe flash for the d70 - i'm finding that i could REALLY use one for mine. not just for fish photography, but for other things as well (including macro work- you have to stop down quite a bit in macro to get good DOF, meaning light becomes an issue.) the sb-800 is supposed to be a killer speedlight, i'm going to make a trip to the shop today to purchase one i think. will let you know how that goes. have a nice stay here at apf. we are glad to have you.

Thanks, and let me know how much the sb-800 runs too. :)
