Well this is officially my first post at monsterfishkeepers so hopefully someone with far more knowledge than I can help me out! While my parents were house sitting for me last year they bought and set up a 6 gallon eclipse with a couple goldfish for my son's bedroom and I've been hooked ever since. Less than a month later I set up a standard 90 gallon with a couple of oscars and pleco. The tank has changed a ton as I've done more and more research since then, and will be no more shortly as I plan on purchasing a 150 gallon in the coming weeks.

Anyways, on to my question... about 3 weeks ago I purchased a festae and EBJD from Live Fish Direct online, and I'm trying to sex the festae. It was harding getting some shots of him/her but here's what I have, hope it's good enough.

The Red Terror is a male.

i am tossed up, everything i have read about sexing festaes would suggest the same, but from time to time he/she displays the really dark stripes, blackish dorsal fin and a reddish colored body. Being only 2.5-3" is it reliable to sex them based off the adult traits? at what size do they begin to show obvious signs one way or another?

It is a male. The dark dorsal fin would stay at all times by now if it were female. I had a male that stumped pros for months...This one is pretty easy.
