New to Gars

Hello there hope everyone is fine, im setting up a 250-300ltr tank soon, was wondering if there are any gars i can keep in a tank that size, ive been told there are gars that stay as small as 30-40cm which i think isnt much for that tank. Ive been doing some research on gars and its just led me to confusion, since there is so much contradictions on them on the internet and i just cant get the names right. I would like to know the scientific name of gars that can fit in my tank (if there are any that is). There is only one LFS on my island and he never got gars for anybody so he has no info at all about them, tough he said he can order them for me if i provide him with the scientific name. I would also like to know what they eat, as in will they accept any sort of processed fish food or frozen blood worms? and will they do well in a heavily planted tank? and what smaller tank mates can i put in? ie. bottom dwellers, i was thinking bichir....

Sorry. As with the rays, there are no species of true gars that can be kept to adulthood in a 65 gal tank.

Have a look at the sticky threads at the top of this forum for loads of info on gars (and other gar-like species).

Loads of good info on gars here, but a gar will be unable to swim freely in the small environment of a 65Gl.
