Hello every1 i finally got my first gar which ended up being a florida gar. I've read a lot and know somethings from being friends with mike aka madding. But i purchased him from the LFS 2 days ago. He was active and they fed him before i took him, i think he ate 2 feeder fish. I have read also threw this section that it is normal for them to sumtimes sit on the bottom. BUT wut about when my ray goes right over him and starts biting on his mouth/nose?? He just sat there, ill say he tried swimming back to try to get away from the ray but not too aggressively. I ended up having to stick my arm in the tank and remove the ray from him. Also ive read on the things every1 feeds their gars but wut would u guys try first to get him off of live food??

I wouldn't be comfortable with letting the ray gnaw on the gar. How big are they both? Would go with pellets or shrimp. They've both worked well for me

Glad to see you got one Steve. Sorry I haven't been around much offline I've been really busy and fish have been driving me nuts since my gars are going berserk.

Yea I Dunno it was very wierd. But it was while I was doing a water change so the water level was real low and it was the 2nd day he was in the tank. He's a lot more active now. Swimming up top with my aro. I'd say he's about 9-10" and my ray is about 6-7" disc width.

Mike I've been trying to text u. Didn't know wut was up. But yea I'm lovin him lol.

Feed the ray more.. my gar refused pellets until he was about 12".. or the end of his first year. If your Arrow takes pellets your gar will, they are smart enough to reconize a food when they see tank-mates chowing down.

Hey its been 7 days now since the gar has eaten. Ive been feeding my aro and ray raw frozen shrimp, dethawed and then cut up into small chunks. Ive also tried floating and sinking pellets. I dont want to cave in and give him feeder fish.. any thoughts?

I tried frozen beefheart. That didn't work either. He's going on a week and a half of not eating. When should I cave and give him feeders?
