So I've decided that I wanted to try my hands at loaches. Went to lfs looking for 5-7 clown loaches and boy talk about sticker price. I was shocked that they were going for $16.99 ea! Guess that went out the window quick. So I was still determined to look for yoyo loaches as a replacement but they were super small. Finally came across this guy. Sold as a zebra loach but when I looked online it said a tiger loach. So help me find the right Id. I believe it's a tiger loach species. Paid $12.99 for it. Also picked up another loach from a private owner while my brother was getting a bunch of Africans from him. Couldn't resist the price of $5 so I had to get it too. I believe the second loach is a zebra instead.

I can not identify them but they look like some nice additions. I have never wrapped my mind of the fact that LFS do not know what they are selling

Top pic is a tiger botia and are usually really aggressive... There's 5 kinds of them I think and the other pic is a zebra loach. How big are the clowns for $17? Petsmart usually has small ones for $5.

They're 2" and skinny. Thanks for the id. They had the tiger one in a different tank from 3 other ones that was labeled tiger loaches also. The 3 other ones were $9.99 ea. Smaller and looked pale with different patterns. Was debating to pickup all of them but wasn't sure if they school or not. From what I've been reading online is that tigers are very aggressive and territorial.

Yeah the tiger botia's are... I have 3 different kinds of the tiger botia's and they fight like crazy so I had to split them up cause they fight non stop with their kind. They will eat fish they can fit in their mouths.

So you wouldn't recommend getting more tigers and keeping them together?

No unless you have a 125 gallon or more... If one tiger gets a lot bigger than the other it will just beat on the other to much. They get 10inches don't forget.

They are in the 135 gallon with my exodons. Hope everything will be okay cause I also have the zebra loach with the tiger.
