Hey everyone,

I've been keeping freshwater fish for a couple years, and now I'd like to get Into reef tanks. Im going to purchase another tank in a month or two I thought I'd get either a 55 or,75 gallon, as its not too small, but not so big that is be extremely overwhelmed until I get experience with reef tanks. I've been doing as much reading on here as possible, and I'm definitly going to take it slow and not rush, so that ill cause as little stress on the living creatures as possible. I want to do it right, and definitely need tour guys help and advice to do so! Any imput is appreciated! Sorry if its a long block of text, I'm on my phone, ill fix that when I get home

Thanks, Mitch

Great to see someone going slow and steady to start out. A 55-75 gallon tank is perfect for a first thank, it's affordable and like you said it won't overwhelm you. Have you given thought to what kind of corals and fish you would like to keep? Often times you should select the stock you would like to keep, then tailor your system around that list. What have you decided to do for filtration, canister or sump/refuge? There are ups and downs to everything. Feel free to post questions as you go, I know several members will be more than happy to help.

I like the idea of deciding what I want in it, and deciding on what is need for equipment to woodland for the tank inhabits. As for what I'd like in it, the only fish in set on, is a pair of clowns (the stipulation my girlfriend set on allowing the tank :p) other than that, I know very little about reefs, so i need all the advice I could get. what would you suggest for stocking? I'm open to any ideas.

I hate these stocking questions...

Why dont you go check out some fish on wet web media and do a little reading...even going to a online fish store and looking around at fish.

Come back with a list of fish you are intersted in, what you want to do coral wise, and the size/filtration of your system and then we can help you weed out the fish that wont work for you.

You really should be the one to choose what goes in your tank, not a bunch of mysterious, unknown, online peoples. :)
