I bought a 125 yesterday...it has two stickers, one, on the bottom glass says "tempered glass do not drill", the other one is up under the rim, it has a date of manufacture "20 Dec 2005" along with a serial number "T1151369"...my question to y'all is this...does the tempered glass sticker refer to just the bottom glass, or does it mean all glass...my goal is to drill the back panel for a "beananimal" setup with a coast to coast inside...btw, my intent is to set this up as a north American creek/headwater semi-biotope with uni directional current flow (river manifold)...will post pics as the build progressess, DIY Stand, DIY sump filter, DIY lighting, diy 3D background...etc...

Thanks in advance,

Rich

I was afraid of that...was really hoping the bottom sticker was just referring to the bottom panel...are there any visual clues to determine whether glass is tempered or not ? (for future use)

Thanks

Rich

I always thought it was in reference to the bottom. Do you have the manufacturer's name? If not you alia s contact a few manufacturers and ask if its their serial number then inquire from them.

Usually the sticker on the bottom means only the bottom pane is tempered unless it states that all panes are tempered.

Central Garden and Pet is the corporate owner of Oceanic so you may want to contact them if you don't get a response from Oceanic Systems.

Ok, so after some hrs of further research...reefcentral.com, aquariacentral.com, and oceanic systems.com/FAQ, I've come to the conclusion the front, sides, and back are not tempered...the oceanic FAQ answer was that oceanic has never used tempered side, front, or back glass...I'm gonna drill and hope for the best...if it shatters due to being tempered then so be it...won't be out that much, $125.00...wish a brother luck ! :D
