Hello,

This is actually my first post her at MFK, I got an e-mail a few months ago and kept it and joined about a month ago, just never posted.

A little about myself, I am a construction worker in Central NC(Greensboro), I was actually born and raised in a small town named Freemont Ohio. I have been around the aquaria hobby all my life, we had several aquariums when I was younger. None of which were done corectly. After I graduated high school I grew fond of Oscars, Jack Dempsies and Convicts. I did several tank setups over the years, still none corectly, ( I always thought that you just put water, gravel and fish in the tank, add a filter and some rocks and a light, there you go.)

About 2 and a half years ago, my boss put a 29g tank with all the trimmings behind the job tailor and it sat there for about 3 weeks, no one said anything about it so I asked around if anyone wanted it. No one did so I took it, set it up, (Had no clue aabot the Nitrogen cycle) and guess what aI put in it, 2 Oscars, 2 Jack Dempsys, 2 convicts and a Pleco. The Oscars took the blunt of it, one died after about 6 months, the other original one lived for another year and a half, but I fought illness constantly.

Last November I started doing research on the hobby, and found out all my mistakes. By January, I had taken the 2 Dempsys and the Pleco, all of which were over 7"( I didn't mention that before this I had replaced the Oscar that had died) The convicts stayed because they actually belonged in that size of tank, and the Oscars were waiting for a new home ( They were also sick with HITH). I finally got a 75G in July, but it was too late for the other original Oscar.

I have learned a lot in the past 9 months and am very fortunate to have found some people who want to help with this hobby.

My tanks now:

1-29G tank with: 2 Convicts ( 1- 4 1/2 " and 1 3 1/2 ")
1 Amazon Sword

1-75G tank with: 1 Oscar (10")
1 Pleco (5")

I have built my own stands and the hood with 2 ODNO florescent lights for the 29G. Still working on an idea for the 75G hood, the styl of the 29G would be to cumberson and heavy.

Well I hope I did not bore you with my story, just wanted to introduce myself.
