Hi all, I am new to Monster Fish Keepers and twenty years ago, I used to keep Oscars and Pacus, which were monsters. Presently, I am teaching my 12 year old how to maintain a 10 gallon tank and it has been a rough go of it. I have learned that keeping a community tank of such small size, one must stay on top of water quality and water changes. We have one Fancy Guppy, one Mickey Mouse Platy, one spotted Kori Catfish, Starry Night Eel, two Ghost Shrimp and four Neon Tetras, a nice variety that maxes out our little tank. We have live sand with bacteria, an Aqeon Heater and an Aqeon Hang on the back Filter. We feed both flake food and frozen blood worms and we test our water weekly. Where we live, the pH comes out of the tap at 8.0 so we start by bringing it down to the 7.0 to 7.4 range. Recently met a nice fellow who introduced me to this site and had lots of good suggestions on water maintenance. I hope to learn lots more here. Looking forward to reading your posts and learning from many of you. Thanks, TvFisher
