Welcome!

You have a blank slate. There are so many choices!

Cichlids have wonderful personalities and are quite interactive. The choices are endless from a single tank occupant or a group of smaller types. Some that I find interesting as a solo fish in a 75g would be a Green Terror, Midas or Red Devil, an Oscar just to name a few. A group setting could include a Convict, Firemouth, Jack Dempsy.

Again welcome to the forum and have fun with your tank!

Do you like the community look or the dramatic loner look? DMD123 is right, you have a blanck slate. Start with a fish choice but dont buy the fish right away. First find out the right decor or assemble what you like...driftwood,sand, plants(fakers rule imo) then put it together just right and then fill the tank and cycle it. Point: Take your time to plan it out and it will be more rewarding in the end...rushing just breeds frustration.

BTW, welcome. your in good hands in this site.;)

thanks i love oscars but am a little scared it is a glass tank i always hear bad things about destructiveness i know that they need toys and a good filter what about angels i like them alot two maybe a dozen or is that too much?

I would go with a community tank. After that get a show piece fish tank but first the comm would be more interesting to watch.

Welcome...I recommend going through the media sections of some of the different forums and see what you like.

Brace yourself I'm going to ramble here and I'm probably going to misspell a great deal of it: With 75 you should have enough room for many of the more common chiclids, most if not all the bichirs, IDK anything about dats I don't think they get that big. Dont think 75 is enough room for any of the Arrownas not certain there though. Wont mention piranha since i see your from CA.

I'm keeping a Bichir myself right now and would recommend them to anyone I think they're neat fish, but that's pure opinion and what you want to keep is much a matter of preference and quite frankly dependent on budget.

Whatever you go with good luck and I'm sure you'll be able to find an expert on them here somewhere.
