Hi, my name is Mark, and I can't take a clear, properly exposed photograph to save my life. ~crowd mumbles hi mark~
I've been keeping fish seriously for almost a year now and am awed by the great photography I've seen on this and other sites. I don't know if I'll ever get beyond the novice stage but I'd like to at least take shots of my fish that won't embarrass me. I'll talk about my proposed equipment upgrade in the equipment section so that you can help me get started.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi mark!

Welcome to APF!

Don't worry about not being able to take a pin sharp picture for publishing in National Geographic. Most of us can't. We are started somewhere and were no different from you at one point in time.

Here, we learn together and share. Hope you'll enjoy it.

Cheers,

Yeah, most of us can't, :) (well except benny that is :), but that is only 'cause he has 3 flashes on top of his tank :) ).

Welcome mark, to APF, and dont stress out, learn to max out your camera, and if you are upgrading, decide whether aqua photography is you main thing and we'll help you out.

Welcom captclams !

People who take pictures for NG make a living off photography and are able to invest in top quality equipment. We can take pin sharp pictures (I found it to be not that hard with DSLR) but composition and THE moments is were we need more experience.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I think my initial interest in aquatic photography comes from my desire to share my tanks and fish with others in the hobby. I'm sure once I start to get shots that I'm proud of, fish keeping and fish photography will become a single hobby.
I'll probably lurk more than post initally, that'll give me some time to study the site and your work.
Thanks again,
Mark
