I keep large aggressive cichlids and was wondering what pike or pikes would be recommended for this type of community? Thanks

You'll need to go for large lugubris type pikes. Think venezuelans, lenticulata's, Xingu's, Atabapo's, etc.

I also have an adult male Alta with some of my large cichlids (loiselli's, Mayans, freddy, etc), and at about 8" he seems to hold his own.

Any of the smaller pikes will likely end up eaten if they don't have plenty of good hiding places in a tank like that.

I don't know as much about cincta's, but given their adult size, should be alright.

Another thing to realize is that you'll have to add any pike at a decent size to be sure that it doesn't become lunch. Also make sure there is plenty of hiding places so that it can get away from aggressive fish.

Cinta are great pike. Grow to a good size, aren't too aggressive but will hold their own and they don't usually start things. At least that was my experience with them.

Thanks Conner, what do you think about cincta's?

Spaz, I just got a pair of cincats from Dan Ye at American Cichlids and I love them. If you want quality pikes I would recommend contacting Dan Ye.

Yes they are aggressive, my pair kind of took over their tanks. What do you keep w/ your lents?
