New to pikes

Hi everyone lol I posted on lounge by accident anyway I recently saw a vid on YouTube and ive seen cichlids before but they never caught my attention but the pike cichlids whoa!
I'm a big fan of pikes and I know pikes and pike cichlids are different but their still cool<br />
I'm looking for a pike cichlid myself with the same adittude as the northern pike carnivore, fast ,and entertaining, i have a 30 gallon with no fish in it,a 150 with a fahaka puffer and I'm getting a 60 gallon this week wat pike cichlid do you guys think is the right one for me??

In response to your question, a green pike cichlid can live a good long while in a 30 gallon and will be set up for life in a 60. I have mine in a 30 and she is 5.5 inches long. Lots of energy. she will definitely let you know when she needs to eat. An absolutely beautiful fish. If you want to go with a different route that will better utilize the 60 gallon, I suggest an Odoe Pike. It is an African pike, not a pike cichlid. They have an attitude but they restrain much of their energy for "the Chase", which they love. Sometimes they will not even chase their prey if it doesn't seem to fear them. Hope this helps!

I just got my first pike cichlid (cincta i think) i don't know the sex but it's a pretty active little guy and gets along just fine with my sen poly
 
If you plan on upgrading, you could get a Venezuelan Pike, as they get close to 16".

Here's mine at close to 5". Really neat fish.

Wow JML1997, that is a really beautiful Venezuelan Pike. Its been a while since I have seen one of those. Hows its temperament? would you suggest it capable of living with other fish of the same aggressiveness level and size?

Thanks, this pike lives with various aggressive CA/SA cichlids from 2''-12'', and doesn't bother anyone unless the bother it.
 
I also have a Venny, hes an awesome fish. Eats everything. Hasn't become aggressive yet which I guess is a good thing. They are really cool fish, they just get pretty big.
