i have a 100 gallon running right now with just big pebbles inside as substrate. they are more like rocks than pebbles... but theyre the round river rocks. anyways, i was wondering if i need to put drift wood and smaller substrate such as sand or gravel?? or can i leave it the way it is now...? thanks

you don't need driftwood but it looks nice. have one in my tank. and you don't need sand or "gravel". i used huge stones as substrate in my aro tank. worked fine, looked nice, only down side was food falls in the rocks and the fish can't get to it resulting in rotten food being under ur rocks.

i have play sand im mine, with no log just plants and a couple of rocks.

cool. thanks for the advice guys... also, how do piranhas feel about strong currents in the tank?

P's benefit from strong currents, and also love it...About the substrate...My tanks are either bare, or half filled-half bare...Simpler the cleaner....

ive have river rock, replaced with play sand, like it much better this way
