Hello when laying laterite do you just lay it down then lay the gravel on top? Then when planting your plants push it down into the laterite? Also how thick does each subsrtate need to be.

Some people do that. I just use straight flourite about 2.5-3.5 inch deep. But I know plenty of people who lay gravel on top.

I just spread it out on the bottom an add your gravel on top.

I try (without damaging the stem) get it as deep as possible.
