Hi All,

I have been into monsta fish for a number of years now and recently my wife had asked me to set her up a tank. I got her a 90Gal its a 3x2x2 with Up Aqua soil as the base for the tank and she has 6 nice Discuss and some comgo tetras.

Recently we were at the LFS when she seen a planted tank that she has fallen in love with, So she purchased a presurized Co2 set up with a PH monitor controller, We are running a 3 foot 4 tube T5 lighting system and keep the temps at around 28-30 c.

We run a Eheim 2217 as the filter and do weekly 30% water changes.

My question is what plants are best suited to a lower PH as we keep the tank at around 5.50 - 6.00 for the discuss.

Can you please list all plants that will suite this set up and what ferts should we be using to keep the plants healthy and happy.

Regards

Peter

how many watts is that light? I would start out by ordering some dry ferts online. KNO3, KH2P04, and a micro mix would be good to start with. A canister filter is the way to go to diffuse your co2, it would be pretty easy to just put the output of your co2 in the intake of your canister filter, my filter diffuses mine well. If your lights are strong enough, and you get those dry ferts you should be all set for most plants, like fish there are many plants that will do well in low ph. I have pretty low ph in my tank and all my plants do just fine.
It sounds like you have all the equipment to start a planted tank out right, once you have your fertalization routine down you should be set

I wouldn't diffuse the Co2 by way of the canister, when I did that it burped and made a lot of noise and the bubbles it made weren't fine enough to stay in the water column. Read the pressurized co2 101 sticky, I built the Co2 diffuser they mentioned out of pvc, works REALLY well.

I would also recommend reading the 'lighting a planted tank' sticky to see if you have enough lighting or way to much.
