New to plecos.

I got a royal pleco and a golden nugget pleco today. The pictures are of them still in the bag. Is there any special care that they need? I have regular plecos, but never had expensive ones before.

I have both as well... you need some wood in your tank but be aware that the wood will lower the PH so get some oyster shells or rock to combat it they love courgette and cucumber! but the nugget needs meat in its diet and have seen him in the lance fish i put in for my shovelnose cats.

Thanks. I think I was sold a unhealthy royal pleco. I realized shortly after putting him in the tank that it's stomach was very sunk in. I put a slice of zucchini, piece of green bean, and an algae wafer to get it to eat, but it died anyway. My water tested good, so I can only assume it was already dying of starvation once I bought it. Hoping to get my money back, or atleast get another one today.

Yup. I'm getting a replacement, but they are on order. This time I'll let them keep it for a week to make sure it eats. Lesson learned when it comes to starving plecos. Hopefully the next one has orange eyes.
