Hello all, as the title says im interested in getting into a new kind of wet pet. I am no noob to keeping fish I have kept SA and CA Cichlids for years, never finding my way to piranha. With the purchase of m new 125g I have decided i wanna give a Rhom or maybe a elong a try. I have done the research so kinda know what to exspect. With that said I guess im loooking for opinions an sugestions. Also on good sites to order from. thanks.

First off, http://aquascapeonline.com/ is the way to go on ordering fish. I have previously owned RBP's and an Elong all from this site and I have had nothing but great experiences with them. If you're gonna go with one monster fish, make it the Elong. That was the only fish that chased my finger around the tank and had a lot of personality. This will be your only fish of course though. I tried putting in a 7 inch oscar with my 5 in Elong one time. After having a chunk a day ripped out of the Oscar, I had to put him out of his misery. Good luck and I hope everything goes well. Post pics when you get it!

Thanks for the reply Badegeus, thats great to hear as aquascape was the site i spent 2 hours last night looking through. I love the look of the elong and the attitude. my only concern is the mixed results im reading about full grown size its been 8-12". I mean i wouldnt mind a 1' fish taking up the tank but anything less is not really worth it to me, when there is so many other closley related other options.

Im a very happy customer of aquascapeonline.com for my piranha orders. Call in the order and talk to Nicole, shes the customer service queen.

As far as the aggression and which one to choose, its up to you really. I have a 10" rhom currently and I wouldnt trade him for any other piranha. Best personality in a fish that Ive ever owned.

But remember that just because some rhoms or elongs are crazy, doesnt mean they all will. Im sure half the rhoms and elongs out there are corner dwelling sissies.

Also, elongs over 6" arent very common in the hobby. Id love to have a full grown 12" wild caught pingke elong, but theyre not available. Personally, I have no draw to elongs under 6", and 6-8" better look awesome. +8" Id buy in a heartbeat.

thanks Mike, thats about all i needed to hear. Looks like a bdp will be the next member of the fam. I know its a coin toss as to aggression but, ime thats any fish. I have kept chill Rds and my last which would roid rage. I have a very good lfs around me which if im not happy with my fish i know it would sell in a heartbeat. Or are the color varients just hype?

Bong & Pedro are a pleasure to deal with , and they always have me coming back for more.

Anyone else notice the guyana prices seem to be off on aquascape, the 5-6" is 200$ and the 7-8" is 150$.

I like the little bit of red in them and their adult size with the dark color. I think I'm gonna go with the Guyana. It's the only one on there I can get with some decent size to him for less then 400$.
