New To Ray Keeping

Hi everybody I've have my ray, Angel for approximately 1 month and a week. I noticed that she has a black stinger on top of a white slender object. I noticed this about 2 weeks ago. I believe it is the old stinger about to she, but when do you think it would be off of the ray? I would like to know this because the substrate I have is white and blue and locating the stinger can be difficult....unless I use the net which I will probably. Also I need to take out as soon as it drops because won't Angel accidently swim on top of it causing an injury?

it could cause injury but most injuries are because food falls ontop of them and they suck it in when they are eating

Well then that may no to be a problem then, because I use tungs and kinda make him glide near the surface of the tank to eat a frozen cube of worms, by the time he's at the bottom it's pretty much gone. Btw do you know when it will drop or an estimate?

My motoro shed it's first stinger at 7 inch disc. The stinger was White for 3 months before it fell off.
