Hi, I have a little Motoro Ray that I got least week. She's in a quarantine tank since she was a little beat up and very skinny when I got her. One of the filters is a fluval internal canister filter. My question is it normal for her to constantly cruise up and down the filter. The sides, the front, she is always swimming and touching the filter. She even tries to squeeze behind it, which she can't. She eats great and comes to the glass whenever I come stand there. Just not sure about the obsession with the filter.

Any chance there are small particles of food stuck on it? I used to have a ray that would love to suck on my FX5 intake after I fed bloodworms. I wouldn't worry about it though.

I've notice that the little rays when happy move around a lot. Also love the current that the filter produces and if there's nothing in the tank other than the filter intake/output it almost seems like they're playing with it.

It could be she's just playing in the current, but the way she sucks to the side of the filter I bet she is looking for food. I never even thought of that before. Now I feel bad, she probably smells food constantly but can never find it :/
