Hi, i've got this motoro for about a week... its been eating fine but it doesnt move off the ground. Is this normal behaviour?

Also its keeps banging itself against the glass similar to the video below.

http://www.myvideo.de/watch/2424641/Motoro_II

Not my video but just borrowing it for illustration purpose...

I'm just worried cause it can get pretty carried away with the banging... and also cause it looks like it is trying to swim but cant.. just crawling around on the floor.

Thanks!!

i think this is somewhat normal behavier i see one of my rays do it from time to time
what do u mean by moveing off the ground they are bottom dwellers they are designed to move around on the ground?

The motoro in the video is just hungry.. :) That is normal.. Do you give him plenty of food..?

thanks for the assurance.....

Yes i do feed the guy but he doesnt seem too keen on prawns which i feed him... maybe cause i fed him live feeders too...

Yeah with regards to the thing about it not swimming, it looks like its trying to glide in the water or climb up the sides but is unable to do so. I can only "crawl" on the base of the tank.

Thanks again.

That behavior is anger. I've seen it before when you move rays. Especially when you split up a mating couple.

It is actually not a real bad sign, it also means there is plenty of energy in the ray. Usually it go's away in a couple of days.

looks normal to me... what size tank is your ray in?? got some pics??

When I first got my motoro he wouldn't swim up the glass at all and I thought maybe something was wrong as well but, after about a month he got more comfortable to his surroundings and now he swims up and down the glass probably more than he is on the bottom. No worries. You should try blackworms. Mine love them and they are good for rays that are new to their environment and are being fussy eaters.
