Hi... I am new to Rays but have been a fish keeper for most of my life. My question is... How long would a 72 x 24 x 24 tank last for one Motoro? Would it be big enough for most of it's life?

Also, do any of you hand feed your motoros? Can you "pet" your friend or is the risk of the sting too great?

Thanks for any advice.

generally you will have to feed them from the top next to the tank wall, and the ray will eat it from your tanks.
theres pics on here somewhere.

If you are geting a motoro pup that is only a few months old, that tank should last a good few years. But yeh in the long run, ull need a bigger tank. and you will need really good filtration, but thats the case with any tank with rays :)

read the stickys and come back with any questions.

Ive got a male marble motoro around 12" Disc in a 6x2x2 with a few other fish and i expect to get a good few years out of that tank, and i can feed him by hand i just put the food in my hand and put my hand on the bottom and he comes and eats out of it, ive had a few rays feed like this. All they take is a little time really and then they settle.

But if you want one ray go for a male as they do stay a little smaller.
