I have had different cichlid and piranha tanks for years. I am wanting to start a marine tank (FOWLR) with an empty 110gal. that I have, first I am doing alot of reading both online and in books before I get started. I have been toying with stock list ideas, I want an eel for sure, here is what I have...

Black voltion lionfish
humu humu trigger
blue tang - not sure if it will work
snowflake eel
?
?

This is all I have so far mabie thinking of a puffer. Can anyone give any other stocking ideas?
Also I know that the snowflake eels primary diet consists of crusteations, is there anything I could put in to help as a clean-up crew? Would a type of longspined urchin be safe from predators or a type of starfish or do I have to rely solely on my weekly water changes? I do not miss one with my freshwater tanks by the way.
Any advice with this or my stock list would be greatly appreciated.

Triggerfish will eat most any clean-up crew you put in the tank; they like all crustaeteans. But first you should decide if you want a predator tank , reef tank, or fish-only tank (minus any predators). Triggerfish are my favorite, they are very hardy, easy to feed, and are very beautiful with great personalities; but thay all get big and nasty!! A species tank for a large trigger (queen, blue-lined, or undulate) would be a great idea. Good luck!! Keep us posted.

If you were going to try the Blue Tang I would reccommend that it be a fairly large one and that it be the first fish in the tank so that the other more predatory fish are less likely to see him as food. That doesn't mean they wont eventually see him as food. Also make sure the tank is well cycled as Blue Tangs are somewhat sensitive to large parameter swings. The trigger should be the last fish added or he is likely to harass or kill new additions. The puffer should get a long with the others, but remember some specied can get HUGE (like 2 feet).

With triggers and puffers any crabs, shrimp or snails are likely to be a snack. I would rely on sn the skimmer and water changes to keep things in check. The tang will do a fairly good job keeping algage growth in check.
